Army tents are built to survive wind, rain and years of rough handling. When they're decommissioned, that tough canvas usually ends up as waste. We think it deserves a second life - so we turn it into bags made for everyday adventures.
Why army tent canvas?
Tent canvas is heavy-duty, tightly woven and naturally water-resistant. It's exactly what you want in a bag you'll carry every day, in all weathers. And because it has already lived one life, every bag carries the marks, tones and character of the tent it came from - so no two are ever the same.
How the bags are made
The canvas is cleaned, cut and stitched by hand, then finished with recycled inner tube trims and straps for extra strength. The result is a bag that's rugged on the outside, practical on the inside, and completely vegan.
The range
- Backpacks - including the Soldier roll-top laptop backpack, the Colonel laptop backpack, and the smaller Cadet.
- Messenger and cycling bags - the Bradley bike messenger and Nomad Voyager. See all our bike messenger and cycling bags.
- Crossbody and waist bags - such as the Squad sling crossbody bag and the Platoon bum bag.
- Travel - the Ranger duffle and Nova travel pouches.
Are army canvas bags waterproof?
The canvas is water-resistant, so it handles everyday rain well. The bags aren't fully waterproof, because the seams and zips aren't sealed. For heavy weather, a waterproofing spray for tents adds extra protection.
How to care for your bag
Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let it air dry. Please don't machine wash.
A bag with a story
Choosing a bag made from reclaimed army canvas means nothing new had to be produced to make it - just skill, time and a material that was too good to throw away. Browse the full Army Canvas Bags collection, with free UK delivery on orders over £50.
