Artisan Craftsmanship
Each brooch is made from totumo, a dried calabash shell traditionally used in Colombian artisan craft. The shells are carefully boiled, dried, hand-carved and polished before being shaped into intricate jewellery designs.
Often described as hand-carved calabash shell art, this technique transforms natural materials into expressive wearable pieces. The detailed carving and hand-painted finish highlight the playful personality and striking colours of the clown fish.
The result is a distinctive piece of artisan jewellery that combines natural materials with contemporary design
Ethical & Sustainable Fashion
This brooch is handmade by Indigenous artisans in Colombia, using skills passed down through generations. By supporting these communities and working with plant-based materials, each piece promotes cultural heritage and responsible craftsmanship.
Designed as a slow fashion accessory, it offers a meaningful alternative to mass-produced jewellery.

FAQ
Questions and Answers
Are our pieces comfortable? Suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes — our pieces are lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear, and generally suit everyone. Our recycled inner-tube jewellery has metal-free fastenings, ideal if you react to metals. Our earrings are finished with sterling silver, surgical stainless steel or brass hooks — nickel-free and kind to even sensitive ears. Please note our rubber pieces are made from reclaimed inner tubes, so they aren't suitable for anyone with a latex allergy.
How do I care for my piece? Is it waterproof?
It depends on the material:
• Recycled inner-tube jewellery – waterproof and hard-wearing; just wipe clean.
• Recycled inner-tube & army-canvas bags – water-resistant; they'll handle everyday weather, but as the zips and seams aren't sealed we'd avoid heavy rain or submersion.
• Recycled wood & skateboard – keep dry and wipe with a soft cloth; the grain and colour vary on every piece.
• Recycled brass – develops a natural patina; buff with a polishing cloth to restore shine.
• Resin – wipe clean; keep away from prolonged heat and direct sunlight.
• Recycled bike chain – keep dry and wipe after contact with water.
Looked after well, your piece is made to last
Will my item look exactly like the photos?
The design will be the same as pictured, but no two pieces are ever exactly alike — that's the beauty of handmade, upcycled materials. The threads and markings on each inner tube, the colours in every skateboard offcut, and the grain of each piece of wood are all different, making your piece genuinely one of a kind.
What is it made from?
Every Paguro piece is handcrafted from genuinely reclaimed materials — inner tubes from buses and trucks, recycled skateboards, reclaimed wood, recycled brass and more — given a second life by skilled artisans.
